My Diary Entry 6/12/89
In honor of celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary, I thought it would be fun to share my very first diary entry about my husband-to-be. I was twenty. He was eighteen. I had just finished my third year of college. He had just finished his first. I wrote the following in my diary 3 days after meeting him. I didn’t change anything except names.
Major News! Friday night, we went to a fraternity party and a couple of the guys came over to the sorority house after. Rick and Joe. We made a game out of answering the Book of Questions and played all night. I fell in love with Rick instantly. His answers were the same as mine and he seemed so fun & sensitive & great! He left at 6:00 A.M. He called me the next day, then he came over for a while Sat. night then Sunday – we went to a movie. We saw Annette, Melissa, and Genine there. We sat with them. He held my hand during the movie. It was so sweet. Afterwards, we went to Wendy’s new apartment. We drank and played caps. It was fun. Then we went to the fraternity house and drank some more and played more caps. Justin was there and we talked for a while about some girl he was in love with in Texas. He was really sweet and I’m so glad we’re friends now. Anyway, Rick and I went back to my house and went in my room… we mostly just kissed. It was so wonderful. He told me I’m beautiful. God, he turned me on so much, but I want to take things real slow. I want it to last. He’s so special. He’s very intelligent too. We can actually have a good conversation. It’s been so long since I’ve felt this way and since it’s been mutual!
*My blog tour for Is This All There Is? is going great. I’m having so much fun seeing the creative ways each blogger presents their feature. If you want to check out the first few posts, here they are. The tour is from August 5-26 and Is This All There Is? will be on sale for 99 cents for that entire time.

8/5 Interview with Laura Chapman: (highlights are that she included videos of 3 of my dance mix songs and asked me what my biggest decision in life has been) http://change-the-word.blogspot.com/2013/08/interview-with-author-of-is-this-all.html
8/6 Leigh Bennett: This one has it all: a guest post (me interviewing my 16 year old son), an interview, an excerpt, and a review! http://abroomwithaview.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/blog-tour-is-this-all-there-is-by.html
8/7 A review by DebDebs Reviews: I was thrilled to see this very kind four star review. I laughed out loud and you might too if you read what it was about my book that “scared the bejeezus” out of her. http://debdebreviews.wordpress.com/2013/08/07/book-tour-is-this-all-there-is-by-patricia-mann/

Patricia, thanks for sharing this, its so lovely to have that memento 20 years later!
Awww, that had me smiling from ear to ear! Isn’t it fun to go back to those first days when you’re so smitten? Thanks for sharing that. That was awesome! ♥
*sigh* Thank you so much for sharing such a precious memory with us! Thinking back to the day I met my husband…I still get butterflies in my tummy! That was GREAT!! Much love to you both as you celebrate 20 years of awesome memories of love… <3
Happy 20th Anniversary! What a wonderful first glimpse at what would become the love of your life. Would love to see a blog post from you to her, what advice would you give your twenty year old self, knowing what you do now about love and marriage?
Thanks, Nicky! Yes, I’m so happy to have this one because I’ve kept journals on and off through the years.
Shelly, you’re so sweet! You already knew the story since I told it in my blog post for you, so thanks for reading this too and smiling with me., my friend.
Janice, it’s great that you still get butterflies thinking about when you met your husband! We’re both so lucky to feel that way. Much love to you both as well! ❤
Wendy, thank you so much and what a great idea! You may be on to something… I think I could write a whole book in answer to that question! ❤ to you!
Patricia, thanks for sharing this! I just celebrated 17 years of marriage with my college sweetheart (we’ve been together for 23 years – YIKES!)
Therefore, I do believe we were dating our to-be-husbands about the same time and I bet I know what you were wearing – sparkly fingernails and big earrings? – and I bet I know what was playing on the radio – “Nothing Compares to You” by Sinead O’Connor?
Hhhmm? Yup? I’m right, aren’t I?
Looking forward to our time together on my book blog on August 15. Hope you’re enjoying your whirlwind tour around the blogosphere. So fun!
Cheers!
Congratulations to you and your husband, Julie! Reading your comment was so funny and a little creepy (in a good way)… yes, sparkly fingernails, big earrings, and big hair too. I have pictures to prove it all. You probably do too. And that damn song is burned into my brain… “It’s been seven hours and fifteen days since you took your love away.” LOL. Oh, the intensity and drama of youth! Thank you SO much for being part of my tour. I can’t wait for the 15th too. I told kind of a strange story for that post, but you gotta go with what you’re feeling in the moment, right? 😉 BTW, still can’t stop laughing about your post on blogging vs. bacon. You are one funny lady!
