Hi everyone, my name is Sandi Lynn and I’m the author of Forever Black. I’m 42 years old and I’m a wife and a mother of three teenage girls. I work full-time in the laboratory at a hospital and I spend the rest of my time balancing the roles of wife, mother and author. Writing has always been a passion of mine. I’ve always wanted to write a book. I took some college courses a few years ago and my English professor pulled me aside one day and asked me if I ever considered writing a novel. I was flattered at that point; that my professor, a published author himself, thought my writing was good enough to write a book. I really didn’t give it much thought after that because I was so busy being a mom and working. It wasn’t until about 7 months ago I decided I was going to do what I always dreamed of doing. I sat down and started writing Forever Black. The idea for that book actually came to me when I was getting ready for work one morning.
How do I do it all? It’s not easy juggling all these roles at the same time. I steal every moment I can to write. My girls are 18, 16 and 14 so it makes things a little easier. I’ve had to make some sacrifices in order to get my writing done. I always thoroughly cleaned my house every day, now I do it every other day (sometimes every 2 days). We eat out a lot and I have some help from my husband and kids. I bring my laptop to work every day and sneak in writing time during my breaks. The road was a tough one trying to write Forever Black and getting it published with everything going on, but it was something I was very passionate about and that’s what kept me going and pushing forward to get it done. I felt it was my turn and time to follow my dreams!
Forever Black has taken off beyond my wildest dreams. I never expected when I hit that “publish” button, my book would make the USA Today’s Best Sellers list for 3 weeks in a row, hit the #9 spot on Amazon’s top books, hit #2 on Barnes & Noble’s and hit #1 in both the UK and US on iTunes. It’s been an amazing journey and one I will never forget. I have met the most wonderful friends and fans and I owe it all to them for the success of Forever Black.
I’m currently writing Forever You which is a Forever Black novel told from Connor’s point of view. This book will have additional scenes that weren’t in Forever Black. This is a different journey for me because writing isn’t the only thing I’m doing. Every day I am flooded with wonderful messages from people regarding the book. So trying to keep up with everyone and writing is a whole new ball game! I’m loving every minute of being an author and I’m glad I didn’t let fear stand in my way. It’s never too late to pursue your dreams and if you want it bad enough you can make it happen!
